Football is a team sport. The main aim of this game is to score the ball into the opposing goal as many times as possible. Nowadays it is considered to be the most popular sport game and the "richest" sport.
Games similar to football were played long time ago by different nations. The first written rules of football were written down in 1848. But the date of birth of football is considered the year 1863 when the first Federation of Football was created and when the rules similar to modern were fixed. The country where football was born is considered to be England.
The first rules were very simple and from that time IFAB that makes these rules tries to conserve this principle and to make football more interesting and less dangerous. The modern rules consist of 17 points that completely describe the game.
According to FIFA there were 250 millions people playing football in 2001. And more then 20 millions of these people are women. There are about 1, 5 milliard teams and 300 thousand of professional clubs registered on our planet in all parts of the world.
Competitions in football like in other kinds of sports play an important role. Teams get ready to it training from the morning till night. These competitions are divided into national or local and international. And international competitions are divided into club's competitions and national team's competitions. The most famous are World Cup, Champions League and others.
There are 11 persons in the team one of which is a goalkeeper. Teams play on the grass. But there are also a lot of kinds of football when a game is played in a gym or on the sand.
Each game is called a match and has 90 minutes but arbiter may add some time. Four arbiters watch the match so that all the Laws of the game were followed and may punish some football players for not following rules. The most famous "punishment" is penalty kick.
Football is very popular nowadays and people from all over the world are interested in it. Football players earn great sums of money and become famous all over the world. Here are some of the most popular football players: David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry, Kaka, Diego Maradona, Pele, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, John Terry, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Zinedine Zidane and many others.
Football is also a team sport included into the program of Olympic Games.
Football is not only a game but also a mode of life. If a person doesn't play football, he/she watches it and is a fan of this game.
Besides, fans have become a problem for this sport. But we don't mean peaceful fans that come to the stadium to support their favourite team or a player. But there are fans that become very aggressive when their team looses and they begin to attack people and destroy everything they see. Some fans are ready to tear the stadium into pieces. The most aggressive fans are considered to be English fans.
